Renaud Lécuyer

Composer

Born on April 25, 1978 in the north of France, Renaud Lécuyer began learning music and guitar at the age of 6. It was at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional (CRR) in Reims (Champagne-France) that he obtained two first prizes and two advanced diplomas in guitar and chamber music.

Then, his training continued at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP-France), alongside several master classes. His curriculum allowed him to receive teaching from big names in guitar and music, such as Oscar Caceres, Gérard Abiton, Olivier Chassain and Edith Lejet.

Wishing to explore all areas related to music, he completed his training at the University of Paris IV-La Sorbonne in musicology, administration and music management.  Several concerts across Europe followed, as a soloist, chamber music or orchestra. It was in 2003 that he moved to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to teach guitar and began to devote himself to composition.

The only musician in his family, curious and passionate, his work includes pieces for solo instruments (guitar, piano), but also for chamber music and orchestra. Eclectic, he likes to mix different styles of music to give his creations a multicultural and universal connotation. Each work is for him an opportunity to honor an instrument and a performer, while remaining faithful to the personal vision of his art: “Music is a pictorial art that is ignored; to reveal itself, it appeals to everyone’s imagination.”

In 2021, 2022 and 2023, Renaud Lécuyer is consecutively rewarded with three first prizes at the “Brussels international guitar composition competition “ Ilse and Nicolas Alfonso ””.
